The company celebrated this anniversary with a concert performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Queen Sophia Music School under the coordination of Lopez Cobos.
Madrid, November 3rd, 2011 – Prosegur, worldwide market leader in security, has reached 35 years of history, and is viewed as one of the benchmarks in its field. A pioneer in security, quoted on the Madrid exchange since 1987, Prosegur is today a global company, made of over 104,000 professionals and is present in Europe, Latin America and Asia.
Prosegur organized, together with the Albeniz Foundation, an anniversary concert where the Symphony Orchestra of the Queen Sophia Music School, under the coordination of Master Lopez Cobos, interpreted Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the Canal Theatre in Madrid.
Since the beginning of its business in 1976, from the hands of Herberto Gut, the one who bet back then on a developing field in Spain, regarding security on large surfaces, electricity plants or industrial areas, Prosegur maintained a firm position in its growth: either organic or not, diversified leadership – according to the geographical area and product – clear commitment to innovation, first class teams and client-oriented organization. In the mid-90s, the company begins its extension towards Latin America and in 2011 it begins a new stage, entering the Asian market through the acquisition of a Singapore company.
This growth confirms the success of the integrated security model that Prosegur has been developing and which allows it to remain a benchmark company on the markets on which it operates, with a well-defined business strategy: working close to the client, excellence and quality in the security services and a solid financial position.
Prosegur currently offers services which cover several areas of security: consultancy, active security, access control, remote monitoring and control, breaking-in protection, currency and ATM management, transportation of valuables, fire protection, residence protection, as well as a specialized branch servicing small and medium size companies.
A socially responsible company
Prosegur follows a policy of corporate responsibility based on value creation for its clients, employees, shareholders and suppliers. As a result, the company affiliated itself to UN and counts on its own foundation which centralizes all social and cultural actions with the purpose of building a more solidary society and with fewer inequities.
The Prosegur Foundation develops projects in those countries where the company is present, concentrating on education, work and social integration of intellectually disabled people as well as corporate voluntaries. Moreover, it organizes actions to promote culture and a more dignified life. In 2010, a total of 26,255 people benefitted from the activity of this foundation.
Some of the main initiatives are the projects Cooperation for Development and Piecitos Colorados, the purpose of which is the improvement of education and life quality for underage children in the underdeveloped areas in Latin America, starting with the school and viewing it as a trigger for change. By rehabilitating centers, applying nutritional programs to students, improving education and raising awareness in families, the foundation tries to discourage leaving school, as well as the development of the communities in which the projects are implemented.
Due to the support and collaboration of Prosegur – which gets involved in the work teams, as if the schools were part of the company – the program currently has 30 school centers in different stages of intervention, where more than 3,000 underage children from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay are taken care of. For 2014 an approximate 8,000 students are estimated.
